LQBTQIA+ Allyship Sessions - Pronouns & Gender

Do you want to be a better ally for LGBTQ+ youth, family, friends and colleagues? Transcend Alamance and Elon University’s Gender & LGBTQIA Center is hosting two sessions in partnership with with Storied Church completely free and open to the community with support from the United Methodist Church.  

April 6, 2025 - Gender & Pronouns

Join us to discover strategies for consistently affirming youth, family, friends and colleagues of all genders and challenging cisnormativity through compassionate conversations. This discussion-based session will feature common scenarios for addressing pronoun use, promoting gender inclusion and equity, and using inclusive language in your everyday life. This session is for anyone wanting to better understand pronouns and why getting someone’s pronouns right is so important for allyship.

Do you want to be a better ally for LGBTQ+ youth, family, friends and colleagues? Transcend Alamance and Elon University’s Gender & LGBTQIA Center is hosting two sessions in partnership with with Storied Church completely free and open to the community with support from the United Methodist Church.  

March 9, 2025 - LGBTQIA+ Allyship 101

Participants will learn about LGBTQIA identities, pronouns, inclusive language, resources, and more! Through activities and examples, facilitators will leverage the knowledge that participants bring with new and relevant information. This session is appropriate for folks with any level of education about LGBTQIA identities and topics. While some of the resources will directly pertain to the Alamance County community, we encourage any friends, family or community service and support professionals or volunteers to attend!

This support group meets monthly, in-person on the 4th Wednesday of each month from 6:30 - 8:00. For adults 18+ that identify anywhere under the trans umbrella. This group allows members to share experiences and resources, and create community.

This group is facilitated by a licensed trans-identifying peer support specialist and cis-gendered licensed mental health counselor. Topics are generally driven by group members needs.

We will be providing the main course - a choice of Cider Marinated Grilled Chicken or Vegan Chorizo Stuffed Portobello Mushroom - by Elon University Catering.

You bring your favorite dish or dessert to share! List what you are bringing here and see what is already coming!
